Welcome to Prague!  A city of outstanding charm and beauty.  On arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation, dinner tonight is at a local restaurant and an ideal opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director.                        

Hotel: Hotel Clement, Prague (2 nights)

After breakfast join a local guide for a tour through this fascinating city.  Visit the Old Town, historic Jewish Quarter and the medieval Hradcany Castle.  The afternoon is free for further exploration of this beautiful city.  Prague is the city of “Good King Wenceslas” so naturally the best Christmas markets are in Wenceslas Square and the Old Town.  A “winter wonderland” awaits; soak up the atmosphere, browse the stalls, enjoy the carols and maybe treat yourself to a divine hot chocolate or sip on a medovina – a warm honey liquor!

Travel across the Czech border into Germany, the heartland of a traditional European Christmas.  Bamberg (UNESCO), a wintry town full of romance welcomes you as you join a local guide for a stunning walking tour.  The old town consists of an extremely rare collection of buildings that have been extensively preserved in their original historical form.  Take time to savour the atmosphere and festive markets where you may like to indulge in a glass of Gluhwein served hot and steaming!  Departing Bamberg, travel onward to Nuremberg, home to Germany’s most famous Christkindlemarkt!

Today, join your local guide to fully explore this magnificent medieval town.  Visit the Nazi Documentation Centre and Rally Grounds.  With its massive stone towers and gates, medieval Nuremberg has a rich history stretching back hundreds of years.  The remainder of the day is at leisure to further explore this fascinating town which boasts the most splendid Christmas Markets in Germany, dating back to 1628!  This market has a unique law that only traditional artefacts are allowed for sale.  As dusk approaches let the enticing smells and sounds of music, singing, mulled wine, roasted almonds, bratwurst and Gingerbread fill the air.                          

Hotel: Park Plaza, Nuremberg

Visit picture postcard Rothenberg on the “Romantic Road” considered one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval towns.  It has an aura of fairy-tale with its cobblestone streets, ramparts and turrets, it is both picturesque and unspoiled.  Join a local guide for a gentle walking tour that includes a visit to Deutsches Weihanachtsmuseum (German Christmas Museum).  The museum exhibits unusual and rare Christmas decorations from the 19th and early 20th century.  Be inspired by historic Christmas tree balls, magnificent nutcrackers and time to immerse yourself in a Christmas world full of splendour and glitter.  Make time to visit the famed Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas Shop, set close to the markets it offers the worlds largest selection of traditional German Christmas decorations and many gift ideas, perfect presents and keepsakes for those back home.

Hotel: Park Plaza, Nuremberg

Today reach the German region of Bavaria and the village of Hohenschwangau. After a brisk walk uphill you will enjoy a visit to the most inspiring, famous and magical castle in the world, “Mad” King Ludwig’s romantic Neuschwanstein Castle.  A local guide joins you for a tour inside. Later arrive in the town of Fussen, situated at the southernmost point of the famous “Romantic Road”. With its baroque churches and gothic houses, strolling through the romantic centre of the 700 yr old town is a true delight and makes for a wonderfully relaxed afternoon and evening.                     

Hotel: Europark Hotel, Fussen (1 night)

Departing Fussen we cross into Austria and take the Schamitzpass (Subject to weather conditions) before descending into the spectacular Inn Valley and reaching the winter resort of Innsbruck.  Meet your local guide for a short walking tour that explores the delightful Old Town and the famous “Golden Roof”.  The splendid alcove balcony gets its name from the 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles that adorn it.  Marvel at the Christmas lights of the large Christmas tree rivalling the glistening tiles of the roof, the aroma of freshly made “Kiachln” (Piping hot doughnuts laced with Sauerkaut), and the sound of Christmas carols.  After, we visit the magical and wacky world of Swarovski Crystal.  Arriving into Zell am See, nestled on the shores of Lake Zell, hugged by the mountains, this village is widely known as a gem of relaxation and a perfect destination to spend Christmas.      

Hotel: Hotel zum Hirschen  (4 nights)    

Christmas Eve! What a magnificent location to relax in over Christmas! The next two days are for relaxing and enjoying the stunning scenery which surrounds. Do as little or as much as you like, your Tour Director is on hand to assist.  This afternoon come together to experience a magical ride in a horse drawn carriage through the local countryside.  Christmas in Austria begins at around 4pm where the tree is lit for the first time and carols sung.  The main Christmas meal is also eaten on Christmas Eve, enjoy a traditional 5 course Christmas Eve dinner accompanied with cheer and goodwill.

Enjoy Christmas Day as it should be, relaxing, eating and drinking in this delightful Alpine location.  Perhaps head for a winter walk alongside the lake, before we head to the mountains for a festive afternoon refreshment. The afternoon is at leisure before our sumptuous celebratory dinner.

Today travel to the Kitzsteinhorn where a passenger Gondola pass is included, taking you in comfort uphill to over 3,000 metres above sea level to Gipfelwelt 3000.  Delighting with with sensational views from two panorama platforms across the Hohe Tauren National Park, to the Zell Basin and the surrounding mountains Gipfelwelt will impress.  Visit cinema 3000 and discover the summit of the Kitzsteinhorn from the perspective of the majestic golden eagle and learn many interesting facts on a guided National Park Ranger Tour.  Release the inner child with a snowball fight, have fun sliding across gentle slopes, or simply chilling out on the sun lounges there is something for everyone. Back in Zell am See come together for a farewell dinner.

After breakfast depart stunning Zell Am See and cross the border back into Germany as you head toward Munich Airport for your onward journey.

The following terms and conditions are an agreement between you, our company and our local operators. When you make a deposit payment you thereby agree to accept the terms and conditions of this contract.
Price: The advertised price is in Australian dollars. No surcharges in regard to cost or currency fluctuations will be made once deposit is received. This guarantee excludes fuel surcharges and does not apply to any taxes, charges or levies imposed by any government or its agencies. No discounts are applicable. Price includes transport, entrance fees as per itinerary, plus services of a Travel Director and Driver, meals as specified, and is subject to minimum numbers being met. 
Booking, Deposit & Final Payment: A non-refundable deposit of $750 per person is due within 7 days of booking. Full balance is due no later than 100 days before departure.
Cancellations: For all holiday packages in this brochure, the following cancellation fees will apply: Days of Notice Fee Per Person 100 days or more Loss of Deposit; 99-61 days 50% of holiday package price; 60 days or less 100% of holiday package price. All cancellations must be received in writing and are not effective until this notification has been received.
Group conditions: A minimum number of passengers are required to operate this tour. Should minimum passenger numbers not be met we will review the operation of this tour, and additional costs may apply.
Tour itinerary adjustments: We reserve the right to alter the itinerary including sightseeing, schedules, hotels, and other tour inclusions to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or events beyond our control. The advertised trip requires minimum numbers to depart. Should these not be met, Signature Journeys reserves the right to alter or cancel arrangements.
Travel Insurance: Please note that travel insurance is highly recommended. Please enquire or see your travel agent for further details.
Tipping and gratuities: Gratuities are included for Tour Director, Driver, Local Guides and included accommodation suppliers. Restaurant tipping is exempt from this and nor is it expected and as such remains at the discretion of the individual. 
White Christmas: A large part of Europe is normally covered by a velvety blanket of white snow over Christmas time. Please note that weather conditions vary from year to year and snowfalls and coverage cannot be guaranteed.
